Berlin seamlessly integrates its past and present. Because of its landmarks, street art, parks, and rousing nightlife, Berlin attracts curious travelers looking for a mix of culture, tranquility, and excitement.
A City Steeped in History

Walking through Berlin feels like going through a history book that’s full of different stories and events. I started by visiting the Brandenburg Gate, which represents how Germany came together after being split up for many years. Nearby, the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe gave me a chance to think quietly about what happened to so many during the Holocaust. The Berlin Wall, what’s left of it and especially the East Side Gallery, shows us how people were once separated from each other, but now it’s covered by colorful art and is a place where people can freely share their ideas.
The Berlin Vibe: Art, Culture, and Innovation

Berlin isn’t only about its past—it also has a lot of modern culture, art, and a lively crowd of young people. The city is alive with creative people, from musicians and singers at Alexanderplatz to the new and interesting art shows in Kreuzberg. As someone who likes different cultures, I thought it was nice that Berlin felt welcoming to everyone. Turkish markets, vegan cafés, and lively nightlife spots like Berghain help make Berlin feel like a cool place that mixes people worldwide.
Green Spaces and Slow Moments

Despite being such a busy city, Berlin still knows how to relax and take things at a slower pace. I spent a peaceful afternoon walking around Tiergarten, Berlin’s main park, and then took a ride along the Spree River on a boat. These quiet moments made me see how Berlin is a well-planned city, which I greatly appreciate since I’m from Switzerland.
Final Thoughts
Berlin is a city that really sticks with you, and it’s not only because of its famous places but also because of how lively and welcoming it feels. As I travel across Europe, Berlin is a city where people welcome new things but still remember its history. For fellow travellers who want to experience different things and see something new, Berlin is a place you can’t miss.
