As someone based in Switzerland and always travelling around Europe, I thought Vienna was lovely. It has a great history and culture, which you can see everywhere. Here are my top tips if you’re heading to Vienna and want to enjoy your time there.
Plan Around the Seasons

Vienna looks nice all year, but every season offers its own special things to enjoy. I visited in early spring and saw some nice weather, flowers starting to bloom, and fewer visitors. Winter, even if it’s cold, transforms Vienna into a beautiful, wintery scene with those special Christmas markets and lots of concerts.
Use Public Transport

Vienna’s public transport is well organized and easy to use. Grab a 24-, 48-, or 72-hour pass to use trams, buses, and the metro in Berlin. I always used it to visit museums, palaces, and local restaurants. It’s clean, works well, and is simple to get around.
Soak in the Classical Vibe

Vienna’s musical heritage is unmatched. I went to see a concert at the Musikverein, and it was excellent and made my whole trip memorable. Whether it’s Mozart, Beethoven, or Strauss, take some time to listen to the music that has become such a big part of Vienna’s history.
Don’t Skip the Coffeehouses

As someone who likes to take a break, I loved exploring Vienna’s traditional coffeehouses. Cafe Central stood out to me because it was so calm and beautiful and had delicious things to eat and drink. Get a Mélange (Viennese cappuccino) and take your time while drinking it.
Discover Local Neighborhoods

Make sure to spend time in Neubau and Leopoldstadt, in addition to the well-known Schönbrunn Palace and St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Quirky stores, yummy bakeries, and colorful street art helped me get a taste of today’s Vienna.
Final Word
The city of Vienna brings together the past and the present. Switzerland looks neat and has beautiful art, so visitors can relax and enjoy the good life. Don’t forget to include it in your schedule for a European trip.
